CRAIG SHECKLER head coach | club co-founder | club director triathlon, duathlon, cycling, running
“During the summer of 1992, in a small convenience store near the University of Pennsylvania where I was a student, I picked up an issue of Triathlete magazine. And I’ve been hooked on multisport ever since. I was drawn to the individual nature of the competition, the goal-oriented focus of the preparation, the variety and difficulty of the training, and eventually to the physical and mental challenge of long and ultra-distance racing. I set out on an exploration of personal limits. I became a student of the sport, absorbing all the information I could gather, all the while testing methodologies with my own training and racing. Years of advising fellow experienced athletes as well as easing new triathletes into the sport led me to discover a passion for teaching and a talent for coaching. Now, after all these years in endurance sports, I’m thrilled to be able to share knowledge and experience with the athletes I work with as a full-time professional coach.” |

ERICA SHECKLER head swim coach | club co-founder | art director swimming, triathlon
“I grew up as a swimmer for the powerhouse Parkland High School team in Allentown, PA. I discovered triathlon when I returned to the area after time spent living in Massachusetts and Michigan, and met my then-future-husband Craig. At the time, I was head coach of the Central Catholic High School swim team while working full-time as a graphic designer. I fell in love with the multisport lifestyle when I realized the feeling of freedom I got from open water swimming, became reacquainted with the thrill of riding a bike, and found joy in the rugged beauty of trail running. I now apply my extensive swim experience – as a competitive pool swimmer, long distance open water swimmer, and swim team coach – to coaching triathletes. Swimming for the majority of triathletes is the most challenging discipline and therefore presents a large obstacle to great performance. My goal is to help our clients improve their abilities and swim fitness while finding a comfort level in the water, so that their swim becomes one of their strengths. When this happens, it is so very rewarding.” |

“My journey began with a bike from Craigslist and some advice from my brother. I figured I was immediately an expert since I had a carbon fiber fork and guidance from my bro, who had completed Ironman Lake Placid twice. Little did I know that training hard every day leads to a serious endorphin addiction and injury. I had little respect for the importance of experience and knowledge of coaches. Since that time, I’ve been dedicated to becoming a student of sport by absorbing as much information as possible by training with seasoned cyclists, swimmers, and runners. I also consulted a coach to help me plan my racing and training so I wouldn’t damage my body again. This strategy has been successful and the proof is in the results. In one year, I went from a pretty good sprint triathlete that never ran more than 6 miles to completing 3 half-Ironmans and qualifying for a World Championship race. “Now that I’ve tasted success, I want to share my excitement for the sport by communicating with new and experienced triathletes all of the unique activities that exist within the club. Experiencing the team camaraderie and social dynamic at events keeps everyone involved and having fun. This is why our club is strong at the core and growing every year.” |

CHRISTY ROSSOWSKI
"I’ve always been a competitive and goal-oriented person. Although I enjoyed participating in a multitude of sports growing up (swimming, softball, tennis, basketball, soccer), the one sport which sparked my passion was swimming. I swam competitively from 8 years of age through my freshman year of college. As a freshman, I had a great season with best times and was made captain, but unfortunately my shoulders were too injured to continue my swimming career the next year. Even though I was injured I couldn’t get away from the sport. I started helping out the team, and by the end of the next season I was made an official assistant coach. I worked specifically with the distance swimmers. Coaching became a new challenge, and I love it. Figuring out what each swimmer needs is like solving a puzzle: it takes time, but once you figure out all the individual pieces they need, their swims start to come together. |

“After 20 years of competing on the football field at every level from Pop Warner to NCAA to Professional Indoor Football, a major knee surgery forced me to seek a less dangerous way to receive my adrenaline and competition fix. Armed with only my 5 year old Cannondale Hard-tail, I set my sights on XTERRA Triathlons. By the time I finished my first race, I was hooked. Immediately, I was immersed into the multisport lifestyle, racing in triathlons, trail runs, duathlons, criteriums, and more. Within a year, I started Trimax Endurance Sports, and began directing a full schedule of annual races. The knowledge and sense of accomplishment I gained in the past five years of training, racing, and race directing have fueled my passion for the sport. I now look forward to sharing that experience through coaching and helping others to embrace endurance sports and the commitment that comes with it." |

“My multisport career started off with collegiate competitive swimming. During the last year of college, I adopted biking and running as ways to cross-train and better myself as an athlete. In 2006, I entered two local triathlons, though I had little knowledge of how to train. Starting out the year not knowing what to expect, I was completely hooked on the sport by the time I crossed the finish line of that second race. Since then, I never looked back. Constant but steady progression in my fitness and ability levels drove me to focus on increasing my achievements, not only from race to race but from workout to workout as well. I have become completely committed (some may say addicted) to the multisport lifestyle. Not only am I devoted to the daily activities involved in training, but I also pursue new information daily in the areas of nutrition and mental focus. |
